In 1970 started as a Trainee Chemist with Western Mining Corporation Ltd in their Perth Laboratory doing routine Nickel and Copper analyses and in 1971 joined another Chemist and formed a Company called Analabs Pty Ltd which was involved in analytical assays for the Mining Industry in Australia. This Company expanded and eventually employed up to 450 people in 4 countries and was sold to Inchcape Ltd from London in 1979.
After this he then jointly formed another Company called DrillCorp Ltd doing Drilling Contracting in Australia. Over time DrillCorp went through a series of reconstructions which led to it be a subsidiary of a Public Company on the Stock Exchange in Australia. DrillCorp performed all facits of Drilling Services in Australia and Asia (RC, Diamond, Drill and Blast, Oil, Waterwell and Raiseboring) and at its peak employed 350 people operating 32 drill rigs.
In 1997 he resigned from this Group and moved to Malaysia and then formed DrillCorp (M) Sdn Bhd a Malaysian Drilling Company based in Kuching in Sarawak. It now operates 65 rigs in Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, China, Myanmar and the Philippines. He now controls 80% of the the Group and the very distinctive logo is registered all through Asia and Australia. It has a relatively small but select client base and is currently managed with the help of 2 other Expats and the rest of the staff are well trained and loyal Nationals of various countries.
All rigs are operated to ISO9000 standards and EHS/OHS levels the same as applied and required in Australia. Recently it has completed projects in Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Brunei, Vietnam and Singapore and currently it is expanding into Hydro Tunneling and other Mining Services.
